THE NORTH FENCE

However, the next day, you find a break in the north fence. It looks like a wild animal got into the farm. There are animal tracks everywhere. "Look at this," Hilda says. "There are bear tracks. It looks like the bear came in, then went right back out again. It's a big one, too. Maybe it will be back. What should we do?" (p. 24)










You are a ranch hand. Gilbert is a farmer and rancher. He show you a young black horse, Night. He's getting ready to marry his fiancee, Hilda, early next year. Your job is to feed the farm animals and to check the fence around Gilbert's land. One day you see a alarge brown bear. So you tell them about the bear. The next day, you and Hilda start to cut down trees to make the new wooden posts. Gilbert is busy with the farm, but he helps when he can. But you find a break in the north fence. So you try to fix it. However, you see a cute little cub on the other side of the fence and cub's mother watchs you and cub. The mother bear is not happy and kill you.
