The stolen white elephant

The detectives send their reports every hour. Each one is sure he is following the elephant, but no one catches it. (p. 52)

     This is the story of a royal white elephant. The white elephant is sent to the Queen of England as a royal present from Siam. However, the elephant is stolen by someone on the way to England, so the deliverer asks Inspector Blunt to find him. Three weeks after the elephant's disappearance, Inspector Blunt seeks help from the thieves. The deliverer has to raise the reward to one hundred thousand and he think he will be penniless, but he does it to find the elephant. In the end, the police find the elephant, but he is dead because of hunger. The deliverer was very sad about it and lost his job, however he admires Inspector Blunt as the gratest detective in the world.

     The deliverer said that he admires Inspector Blunt as the gratest detective in the world and he will admire him until the day I die. However, I did not think so because he solves the problem by a lot of money and he seems excited when the paper is published. I thought that he finds the elephant to be famous. Also, I felt sorry about the death of the elephant. After I read this story I learned the importance of lives and I wanted to take good care of animals.
