He wanted Hawkwood to be as good as Greycoats, and he was always telling his class to work harder, to try and make a better life for themselves. (pp.2)

     Sam Sylvester is a teacher  who works in the Hawkwood school. There is another school called Greycoats next to it. Greycoats's students do well in examinations, but Hawkwood's students are much better at fighting than at passing examinations. So, Sam enters his students for a sporting competition against the rich students of Greycoats students...
     This book is in the Oxford University Press series. After reading it, I thought that cooperation was very important to do something with friends. So, I recomend that everyone read this book!
